Day 2: A day of rest.... (22 miles)

Day 2 Full Flickr Photo Set

Ahhh, a much deserved break on this Labor(less) Day. Today consisted of the essenials: sleeping and eating. We slept in, had a substantial breakfast at a nearby diner (to compliment our bountiful dinner at the same diner last night), then slept some more.

Peter visited a friend, Kevin did our laundry (thanks sucker), Jeremy napped and read, and I updated this thing. We also hammered out some details for the route tomorrow and made contact with some of our supporters in Boston. Our productivity has no bounds.

Suddenly, and unexpectedly, Kevin got a call on the batphone (his cell phone has call forwarding from his batphone at home...). We got invited to a BBQ in Williamsburg (Brooklyn Heights)! We made contact with Pete to meet us there and zoomed off on our stalions.

One thing we learned today is that New York is a big city and there are different sections of the city that might have a "2nd st." Also we learned that GPS is not smart enough to address that issue. So after riding 8 miles out of our way, Kevin, Jeremy and I made our emotional reunion with Peter... who had been waiting for us for about an hour. (Sorry Pete!) Needless to say, we made it to the BBQ and met some nice people who gave us food. Katrina, our gracious host, had only been in NYC for about a day longer than we had after moving in from Washington DC. But, she was resourceful enough to provide us with corn- way to go!

After attending this posh New York soire, we zipped over to Clem's to visit Jeremy's friend Jeremy.... and they were wearing the same shirt. Outside of Clem's, we threw our bikes in the face of the city order by locking them dangerously close to a handwritten "No Bikes" sign. Yeah, we're here to represent Philly and we mean it, New York. I mean, what kinda town IS this anyways?

Sleepy time now. We ride for CT in 5 hours.

Thats my baby Katrina! Ive been awaiting her arrival in Brooklyn... and I miss her ever since she left the Amsterdam. Very cool to see her get in contact with you guys. Tell Kevin, during your journeys, to avoid talking to girls, they hate when he does that.
